What Diet Should Be Followed To Avoid The Water Retention In The Body?

Hi, I am a 24 year old female in the fitness industry. I have tried most types of the fitness programmes available and have changed my eating habits as much as possible to suit these training modes but have had no real results...
I also have many dietary allergies which prevent me from eating much of the healthy foods (i am lactose intolerant so no yoghurts/dairy, i am also allergic to seafood and i dont eat beef and pork due to religious reasons) so i mostly eat only chicken. Since relocating to a new country, for work, i have noticed that ive started suffering from water retention which lead to weight gain, but when i went for a check up my sodium levels were normal. Its been 8 months since i have started suffering with the water retention and no matter how much i train i have noticed no change in my weight but the swelling around my ankles has lessened quite a bit. Any suggestions as to how i could adjust my diet any more, to suit my training? Regards and Thank you

Your sodium levels will be low or normal when you have water retention because excess of fluid causes dilution. But this doesn't mean that you need not restrict sodium in your diet. You must reduce your salt intake by adding less salt to food, read food labels for sodium content and avoid packed, canned and preserved foods. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables (raw salads ) and avoid caffeine by limiting intake of coffee, tea or cola drinks. If you do not get relief by making these diet changes, then it could be due to hormonal imbalances. Consult a good gynaecologist if you are having this problem more just before your menstrual periods. Hope I have answered your query. Take care.
