What Dio You Suggest For Trouble With The Bowels And Painful Testicles After A Back Surgery?

My husband recently had a major back surgery, and is having trouble with his bowels, his surgery was 9 days ago. His bowel movements are very sluggish, has had the bomb while in the hospital, which resulted in chocolate pudding . The prune juice, milk of mag., and something else. The docs finally sent us home after 5 days. We went to our primary doc., and he had him drink 10 oz. of citrate, and take 4 laxatives. 5 1/2 hrs. later....watery stool, no sign of any solid BM. His testicles drew up and were extremely painful. They hurt him so bad in the hopital that he actually wanted to cut them off!! He is 66, and we have a very active sex life...Yesterday, I kept his diet light, gave him 2 stool softeners ( he had been taking these), and 4 laxatives. He got his first erection, sometime in the middle of the night (which encouraged me that we were on the road of recovery) and had a small amount of solid BM, similar to a few acorns. His testicles have again drawn up and is causing him discomfort, any advice is welcome.
