What Do Small Bumps In The Throat Indicate?

Hello, the top of my mouth is quite yellow, swallowing is not painful yet, I have bumps on the back of my throat and on the top. I poked at one of the bumps and it started bleeding. I have braces and its made brushing and maintaining my mouth difficult. I believe it may be a sore throat or strep. Any ideas?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per my clinical experience, the bumps in throat indicate possible tonsil inflammation from upper respiratory tract infection.
* My recommendations

- Gargles with salted lukewarm water added peppermint oil.
- Hygiene care of mouth and nose.
- Continue antibiotic, anti inflammatory drugs as per guidance of your doctor.
- Avoid poking the bump.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
