What Do Tenderness And Purple Discoloration On The Toes Indicate?

My mom is 72. Just finished 3 cycles of chemo for Bladder cancer. Will be having her bladder removed in a few weeks. Had a kidney removed 3 years ago due to cancer in her kidney. Her remaining kidney is good. Both her big toes are purplish and a little tender to touch. What could be the reason for that?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Dear in case of chemotherapy there's is possibility of kidney hypo-function lead to hyperuricemia, chemotherapy may cause uric acid accumulation lead to gouty arthritis. Please use cold and warm compression, use pain killers which won't harm kidney. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
