What Do The Brain MRI Report Findings Imply?

I am a 76 years ol male. My brain MRI indicates that I have "chronic periventricular and subcortical microvascular ischemic disease but no evidence of acute infarct" My blood pressure is under control (130/70) with medication and my lipids are under control with medication (total cholesterol 160). Is there any else I can do to treat this disease?
The MRI also indicates "age-appropriate atrophy"

What your MRI shows is a non-specific change which is not uncommon at your age. I often see patients with such MRI changes.
Unless, there are clinical signs & symptoms (complaints from you or information elicited by doctor), these changes by themselves should not alarm you.
Age appropriate atrophy too, as the term indicates, related to age and unless there are other complaints (such as forgetfulness for recent events, decline in overall mental capacity, depression etc) you should not worry about it.
Ask your doctor whether you should take an anti-coagulant such as aspirin or clopidogrel. You may be on such medication already.
You should live an active life. Eat balanced and nutritious food. Exercise regularly (walks and yoga or tai-chi are good exercises). Control your blood pressure and lipids (both of which are under control already). Remain socially engaged. Pursue activities that you enjoy.
It seems that you are living such a life. Therefore, you should not worry.
