i have a hole in my heart i am 57 years old.. i have no blockage in my heart.. the hole in 3.4 cm.. I am really not having any problems except shortness of breath every once in awhile...not every day. just wondering if i should have surgery to fix this.. I am a type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump
Hello, Most probably the hole you are referring is an atrial septal defect. Once it is diagnosed we have an indication for surgery even on advanced ages. With time your shortness of breath with increase and the heart will go on dilatation. So you have to close that hole.
