What Does Granularity, Friability And Erythema In The Stomach Compatible With Gastritis (biopsy) Indicate?

I'm a 33 y/o female. Yesterday I had an upper endoscopy done and the following was dyspepsia-acid and found the following during the procedure:

1. Grade 2 esophagitis

2. Granularity, friability and erythema in the stomach compatible with gastrits (biopsy)

3. Normal mucosa in the duodenum

4. Otherwise normal EGD to second part of the duodenum.

What does all of this mean?

Hi!
Welcome to HCM!
EGD is Esophagogastroduodenoscopy in this lining of the esophagus, stomach, and upper duodenum is examined.
The upper endoscopy report indicates grade 2 esophagitis and gastritis.Acid reflux means that some acid leaks up (refluxes) into the gullet (oesophagus).
Oesophagitis means inflammation of the lining of the oesophagus. Most cases of oesophagitis are due to reflux of stomach acid inflammyion of lining of the oesophagus.
Gastritis is inflammation of the lining of the stomach and has multiple causes, like prolonged use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin or ibuprofen, infections or alcohol consumption.
Duodenum that is first part of small intestine is normal.
Dietary changes and antacids will help you!Take care!
