What Does MRI Report Mean?

In my MRI report conclusion it said,
'broad base right paracentral C6-7 disc bulge with some minor impression on the right C7 nerve root sleeve. Small posterior disc bulge C5-6 as described on the left with small annular tear.'
I would just like to know what that means.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

There is degeneration of cervical spine disc between C 6 and C 7. This is resulting in the disc herniating between the bones. The nerve roots pass through these neural foramina and you might have severe nerve root compression at that level more on the right side. There is also a bulging disc at level C 5 - C 6 with a small tear at the edge of the disc. The nerve pain may be controlled with restricted physical activity and pain relief medication. Please do not do heavy physical activity till you are comfortable.
