What Does A Cyst Of 3mm In The Body Of Pancreas Indicate?

In 2006 I had CT of the abdomen and they found a 3mm cyst lesion, low density area. in the body of the pancreas. It hadn t changed from the previous CT in 2003 and diagnosed as chronic. I haven had another CT since then. It s been 6 years and now I have abdomen issues with digestion. Should I be concern over it or is it a negligible problem.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the issue of tiny cyst of 3 mm is not significant clinically, so far as there are no markers suggestive of pancreatitis as serum levels of amylase, lipase etc.

Till the cause is concerned, it is a microscopic change through the saponification process of possible immune-mediated or some minor infection issue.

In our clinic, we recommend periodic evaluation of the patient symptoms as well as sequential CT scan to monitor the progress and guide further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
