What Does A Hardened And Swollen Area In Leg Indicate?

i have a hardened leg area, around calf towards shin bone,(right leg) that has a tendency to swell some and looking almost like an over sized muscle is popping out. I run 5 miles every other day or more and occasionally run half marathons. i already had my doctor look at this and he felt it and doesn t think it s anything.. serious , but i m wondering...could it be a bloodclot? ive had it for about 4 years off and on,(this ongoing leg issue).

Hello,

Your symptoms are not suggestive of any blood clot, but could be related to varicose veins. For this reason, I recommend performing a Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels in order to examine your blood vessels.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
