What Does A Painful Lump Below The Thumb Indicate?

I over bent my wrist getting up and heard a crack sound a and felt excruciating pain. I immediately developed a large bump protruding from my wrist directly below my thumb. It is painful and lumpy still. This was five days ago. Any ideas what happened?
