What Does A Painful Lymph Node Under Chin Indicate?
I have had a knot (lymph node?) Under my chin also in the throat area also, For the past 3 months it has not went away at all. At the beginning it hurt really bad, I couldn t turn my neck, couldn t swallow food, I had to have a drink at all times or I would choke this symptom came back 2 days ago. I m am once again starting to not be able to swallow. It has doubled in size again. It looks and feels like I have a golf ball inside of my throat but it s under my chin going down towards my throat. I am seriously starting to think it is cancer. What are the possible things it may be? Please help!
As per your complain a persistent lump under the chin that is present since 3 months and was painful initially seems to be most probably a lymph node that is enlarged and as it is present since 3 months it needs evaluation as it can be due to chronic infections which can occur in head and neck region and can be commonly associated with dental problems.. It can also be due to causes like Lymphoma formation but increasing and decreasing sized lymph nodes are generally due to infection.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Surgeon or ENT expert and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and advise investigations like ultrasound and biopsy to confirm the exact nature of swelling and treat you accordingly.. As of now you can do alternate warm and cool compresses over it and if there is throbbing or pain take Ibuprofen.. In case of infection you can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen along with alternate warm and cool compresses.. If symptoms are severe steroid shot can also be advised..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
