Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does A Red And Raised Inflammation On The Buttock Indicate?
I have a red, raised inflammation spread along my left butt cheek. I noticed it Sunday morning after going to crossfire saturday morning and then working outside in the sun power washing my patio. It does not itch. It is somewhat painful to the touch.
As per your description, the rash seems to be erythema ab igne (EAI). It is commonly seen after prolonged laptop use on the thighs owing to friction and heat. This is relatively benign condition and be treated with cold compression and emolients.
However, any skin rash diagnosis has to be made after being clinically examined. Hence, I suggest kindly visit your doctor for the rash to be examined and medications accordingly prescribed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kalpajit Banik, Emergency Medicine Specialist
