Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am an 85 year old lady in good health and do n ot take any prescriptions. I am bothered frequently with a small sore somewhere on by buttox. I shower every day, and when I have a sore, I treat it with an anti-biotic cream, until it goes away. I have wondered if I get these sores when I sit or lie in bed too much? Can you tell me how to trreat them?
The sores that happens on pressure area are known as pressure ulcers. For a pressure ulcer to develop it needs 2 hours or more of pressure on the area. I would advise you to use an air mattress. Also take oral zinc tablets which is good for healthy skin. Keep the area dry.
I hope it helps.
Regards.
