Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Age 72, female w/RA otherwise in good health. Have a soapy taste in my mouth and food seems like it always needs more salt or spices. Have no new meds so can't blame it on that - feel fine but just can't get the real flavors from food. Have a good appetite and eat all varieties of foods - nothing new in the food department either. ???
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is the stomatitis which is causing this symptom of change in the test of tongue. You can try tannic acid oral application with vitamin supplements.
I would advise you to see the dentist because dental disease is one of the cause of stomatitis. If you experience the same symptom even after the treatment, then it may be the hallucination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
