What Does An Itching And Pain About The Buttocks Indicate?
I have been diagnosed with hsv 2 but have never had an outbreak to my knowledge. I came home from work today with a red/itchy/sore area at the top of butt crack, and there seems to be a small hole just a bit below inside the actual crack. The rectal and vaginal area look normal. Does this sound like herpes or possibly a pilonidal cyst?

Herpes is unlikely. It can be a anal fistula or a pilonidal sinus.
As of now do sits bath and apply nifecaine ointment over the area.
If the lesion persist, better to consult a general surgeon and get evaluated to make a diagnosis.
