What Does Atrophic Anteverted Uterus With A Dilated Endometrium Indicate?
hi.im 28 yrs old with 2 kids. my youngest was born oct 2008 and since then im on DMPA wid my OB. i just got my ultrasound and its diagnosis was that i have an atrophic anteverted uterus with a thin and dilated endometrium also my ovaries were diagnosed atrophic. i just wanna know what that means? thanks..
Hi, Thanks for using healthcaremagic. Atrophic uterus and ovaries means decreased size of the organs. The normal size of the uterus is around 6-8 cms in length. If its around 5 cms or else we call it atrophic. Usually it occurs in older age group after menopause but in your case it is very early. Anteverted position of the uterus is the normal postion of the uterus in which it is tilted anteriorly. Thin and dilated endometrium is normal and nothing to worry. But at your age, there should not be any atrophy of the uterus & ovaries. This must be a side effect due to DMPA. Though it should not cause any serious problems but you may have problems in gaining fertility if you decide to become pregnant again. Hope it sorts your problem.
