Need to understand what atrophic pancreatic parenchyma means please just been diagnosed also extensive multifocal calcification, they are fairly sure (more tests to come) l have pseudocysts inside pancreas, in alot of high pain at moment. Don t drink alcohol now at all been over a year
Your tests are suggestive of a condition known as chronic pancreatitis. It is known to be common among people who consume a fair quantity of alcohol, which looks likely to be the case with you as well.
Atrophy means that your pancreas has undergone some amount of degeneration and the cells in your pancreas may have undergone reduction in their numbers. The multifocal (multiple areas of ) calcification are common with an inflammation of the pancreas.
