General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, slight brown discharge after CU T insertion is common in beginning. It may be there off & on during 1st month of insertion. after that it usually stops. You should be concerned if- - the bleeding becomes profuse/it is with pain. You have to consult your doctor at this stage to exclude- incomplete abortion/ displaced Cu T. In case there is no problem Many a times more time( as long as 3 months) is given for adjustment of CU T with addition of medicines to avoid excess blood loss. - If there is profuse bleeding/ not reduced after3 months trial under doctor's guidance- It's advised to remove Cu T. Thanks
