Can you help me understand what this means? I am trying to set up an appt with an Endo. waiting for a call back, but this is driving me crazy as know one has explained it to me. Thank you! TECHNIQUE: 2-D grayscale and color Doppler ultrasound imaging of the thyroid gland. FINDINGS: The right thyroid lobe measures approximately 4.8 x 1.7 x 2.0 cm. The right thyroid lobe is bulky and nodular with heterogeneous parenchyma. Numerous ill-defined hypoechoic nodules are noted throughout. No significant increased vascularity noted on color Doppler imaging. The left thyroid lobe measures approximately 4.5 x 1.1 x 1.9 cm. The left thyroid lobe is bulky and nodular with heterogeneous parenchyma. Numerous ill-defined hypoechoic nodules are noted throughout. No significant increased vascularity noted on color Doppler imaging. The thyroid isthmus measures up to 3 mm in thickness. Heterogeneous echogenicity the thyroid isthmus with 2 discrete circumscribed, heterogeneous, predominately hypoechoic nodules. Along the right lateral isthmus it is a 10 x 18 x 4 mm hypoechoic nodule without internal vascular flow, cystic degeneration, or calcification. Along the left lateral isthmus is a 13 x 22 x 8 mm heterogeneous nodule without internal flow, cystic degeneration, or calcification. IMPRESSION: Multinodular goiter. Recommend endocrinology consultation and correlation with thyroid serologies.
