Radiologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

EMG is electromyography. This is a procedure that studies the conduction of nerve impulses to the muscles being supplied by them. Every nerve has a nerve root from where it arises. The distribution area is the area supplied by the nerve. In your case there left C 5 to C 7 nerve roots appear to be denervated by an active inflammation or denervative change that is occurring in that region. The C 6 C 7 myotomes are areas on the skin surface which are connected to these nerve roots. Therefore you might be experiencing symptoms like pain, numbness, tingling or burning sensation in the skin areas supplied by C 6 and C 7 nerve roots. This is seen from the EMG and is to be thought of as the focus of disease. Please consult your neurologist for medication.
