What Does Dry And Flaky Skin On The Forehead Indicate?

I have been experiencing dry, flaky skin about the size of a silver dollar on my forehead. It will be there for a week and then gone for 2 weeks. If I heavily moisturize it for a few days it goes away. Weird thing is, my husband now has that on his forehead too! Twins! Just kidding but we are about to get a new washing machine as we feel the current machine doesn t clean well enough. Could it be our bath towels have bacteria? But why no dryness anywhere else? Diabetes? Cancer? High blood pressure? Heart disease?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your description, it seems like seborrheic dermatitis. It is nothing but a kind of fungal infection, that develops at the regions with excessive sweats and moisture. Keep the area dry and apply antifungal ointments, like Clotrimazole. If symptoms persists, consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
