What Does Elevation Of The Right Hemidiaphragm With Mild Bibasilar Atelectasis Means?
Got the following as a result of a chest xray and don t know what it means or if I should be concerned. Just showed up in my online mychary. There is elevation of the right hemidiaphragm with mild bibasilar atelectasis. The lungs and pleural spaces are otherwise clear. The heart is borderline in size. The mediastinum is unremarkable.
Elevation of the right hemidiaphragm may be due to many reasons like enlarged liver, subpulmonic effusion etc. Ultrasound of can be done to find put the exact reason. Mild bibasilar atelectasis is generally due to chronic retained secretion etc.It doesn't require any treatment. Findings are not serious at all. There is also borderline cardiomegaly.ECHO can be done to assess cardiac status.
Hope I have answered your question. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
