What Does Enterococcus Faecalis Infection Suggest?

My mom has underwent surgery in her intestine. Now she is having urinary infection. Report says that few pus cells were seen. Moderate Gram Positive Cocci were seen in pairs and chains. Enterococcus faecalis 10000 cfg/ml. Is this a serious condition?

Enterococcus faecalis is a type of bacteria that can cause a variety of infections though urinary tract infections are most common.

It is treated with antibiotic therapy. The infection can sometimes be difficult to treat because the bacteria can be resistant to antibiotics.

This does not occur in all cases and it is quite possible that your mother would respond to her treatment.
