What Does High WBC Count And Enlarged Lymph Nodes Near Small Intestine Suggest?

My 7 year old daughter has had a rash, headache, sore throat, diareah, and abdominal pain. We have been to two doctor appointments and had an abdominal ct scan. She has also been so tired all the time. The test have showmen a high white blood count, enlarged lymph nodes in her small intestines, and the stool sample showed no salmonella but the doctors cannot figure out what it is! Can you help?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your 7 year old daughter having rash, headache, sore throat and diarrhea, tired, have been to two Doctors and had CT scan of the abdomen, shows high WBC, enlarged lymph nodes in abdomen,
This is specific to the children that the sore throat can be due to infection. This infection is swallowed and affects the intestines causing diarrhea, which in turn affects the lymph nodes.
I would advise you the following:
- Also get the blood tests: Widal for typhoid, blood culture and sensitivity.
- A 2 week course of an antibiotic and follow up the abdominal lymph nodes with high resolution ultrasound.
- If these do not respond within 2 weeks of treatment, may need further tests about tuberculosis and cancer/lymphoma for which a biopsy may be needed.
I find this answer helpful
