What Does Increased Density In The Medal Right Lower Lobe Mean?

I am 45 years old, weigh 164 pounds and do not smoke. Relatively fine except for constipation. A recent x ray report stated the following: Heart and mediastinum are not enlarged. There is increased density in the medal right lower lobe , of undetermined age. Minimal right apical density likely scarring, but non specific. No pleural effusions evident. No mediastinal or hilar adenopathy apparent. There are no granulomatous calcification identified. What does all this mean?

Welcome to Health care magic.

1. There is a density seen in the medial right lower lobe of the lung - this could be mass lesion / located fluid collection - effusion / lung lesion.
2.Ths can be assessed by getting an contrast enhanced computer tomography - that will assess weather its a lesion or a localised collection, at the same time it will be characterised weather benign or malignant.
3. There is minimal right apical density scaring noted - that could be due to recently healed infection / inflammation seen as fibrosis and scaring.
4.Rest of the findings in the chest x-ray appears normal.
5.No calcifications ( granulomatous ) noted in the lung - usually seen in the old treated tuberculosis.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
