Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Iron Saturation Rate Of 6% And Lab Report Of Panic Low State Suggest?
My iron saturation rate as of 6/4/14 is 6% and per the lab report is considered panic low , due to chronic iron deficiency anemia. I have Crohn s, CKD stage 3, and am a 15 year post liver transplant patient. My PCP s office has supposedly been trying to obtain authorization for iron infusions per my renal doctor s recommendation. Should I be concerned about how long it is taking to arrange the infusion, seeing as I am in a panic low state. Am I at risk?
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, 6% iron saturation may not be critical if you do not have any symptoms, in my opinion the clinical symptoms are very much important and in absence of this it is nothing to worry even if it takes little more time for arrangement as long as the transfusion is concern, hope this information helps.
