What Does Irregular Heart Beat In A Newborn Indicate ?

My son was born 6 lbs 8.7oz. It was discovered he had an irregular heartbeat! The nurse monitoring him is making both the mother and I concerns grow. Is this something both myself and child s mom so be so worked up about. First child. Born yesterday.
