What Does It Mean If Yolk Sac In Absent In Scan Done During Early Pregnancy?

Hi I've had my blood test results back for early pregnancy showing 5 dlc? I had a scan today for early pregnancy with a ges sac but no yolk sac but a consultant wants to scan me again tomorrow as my bloods are 5 dlc and they want to have a closer look to see if anything is there . What do these blood results mean and could the consultant really see anything a day after the scanner can't see anything? They've estimated I'm 5.5 wks. I'm a little confused!

Dear member,
Thanks for writing.
The yolksac is first structure seen in the gestational sac followed by the fetus. If the yolk sac is not seen even in the next scan then the pregnancy is not healthy. the blood tests are to check the levels of the HCG hormone in relation to pregnancy
repeating the scan will help the doctor guide you better.
Thanks
