What Does It Mean If You Have Tingling Sensation In Your Feet And Calves And Sudden Loss Of Muscle Strength?

I had a sudden calapse of muscle strength in my left leg. I almost crumbled to the ground but caught myself on the counter near by. After being helped to a chair, I noticed my foot and calf was tingling like it went to sleep. However this subsided within 15 - 20 min. I have been fine ever since. I’m alarmed —- what should I do to check this out or find out what’s causing it ???

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be due to neuropathic causes like peripheral neuropathy. Consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Detailed evaluation including nerve conduction study is required for further assessment.

As of now, you can take drugs like vitamin B12 for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
