What Does Microvascular Ischemic White Matter Disease On MRI Brain Suggest?
i am a 56yrs old female had a mri of the brain done findings- ar multiple small t2 hyperintensities bilateral frontal, parietal, occipital white matter areas to suggest chronic microvascular ischemic white matter disease. there is no mass or midline shift. movement artifacts were seen. extra-axial spaces are normal. mucous retention cysts in the bilateral maxillry sinues were seen.ortical sulci, ciserns, sylvian fissure, lateral ventricles are appropriate for patients age. flo voids are normal.
The MRI result means that there are areas in your brain which get less oxygen-rich blood “delivered” than normally expected. The reason is an issue with the most tiny blood vessels in these brain region. As long as it doesn’t cause symptoms, it’s not the end of the world. Talk with your neurologist about your fears regarding this when you have your next scheduled appointment. Don’t worry too much, please.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
