what does mild diffuse cerebral volume loss mean?? I am 34,5'2 153lbs , female just diagnosed with pineal tumor. ( pineacytoma, germ cell, pineal parachymal tumor, said cannot be sure without biopsy and where tumor is not doing one, I have had a full workup. thanks
Regarding your concern, I would explain that the main finding in your MRI to be concerned of is the pineal tumor. The mild diffuse cerebral volume loss, does not have any clinical significance. I would like to know your age. This finding is usually seen after a certain age and it indicates the normal brain cell loss with aging. Anyway, I would recommend consulting with a neurosurgeon on the pineal tumor. It should be removed, followed with biopsy, in order to determine the next treatment options (radiotherapy, etc.). Hope you will find this answer helpful! Best wishes, Dr. Aida
