What Does Mild Heart Murmur, Heart Pain, Severe Cough, Laboured Breathing And Vomiting Mean?

My five year old son complained today of having heart pain while at school recess. This is not the first time I ve heard this complaint from him. We ve been told that he has mild heart murmur before, and he has had some breathing problems with a bad cough recently. He also had 2 vomiting episodes in the last week with no other bug symptoms, like fever or fatigue. He only vomited once, then he was fine. The 2ND time was when he was sleeping. Are these symptoms that need to be checked out? We re already giving him an inhaler when his coughing gets bad or his breathing labored. Thanks, Stephanie

HI
Thank for asking to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if this is the condition which create a doubt for heart then in my opinion the child should be examined to rule out the congenital heart condition, but looking to history given here the chances of this is very minimal, if he does not have allergic asthma then it is not advisable to give inhaler (Bronchodilator) I would advise for routine blood work up this will give us some clues at least low hemoglobin can be detected or rule out hope this will help you in taking further decision have nice day.

Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
The causes of the chest pain of a 5 year old boy, with a history cough, and breething problem may be due to the phlegm in the lungs, or eosinophelia. When the breathing is laboured give inhaler, and take him to the doctor to prevent the phlegm accumulation.
As he has vomiting it could be due to the gastric hyoperacidity, or indigestion.
The murmer in the cardiac area suggests anemia, hole in the heart walls, or congenital stenosis of heart valves.
Though all the above said are not present it is advisible to consult a pediatritian for excluding the major causes.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery.Thank you
