What Does Minimally Dilated Lateral Ventricle Mean?

Dear sir,,
My wife is carrying now,she is holding 33weeks baby.
she had a growth scan yesterday,the report says, both lateral ventricles appeared minimally dilated. right - 1mm and left 1.1mm.
1,what is exactly mean???
2,It will affect baby growth??
3,It is possible to cure???

Hi, I have gone through your question. Ventricles are said to be dilated when the size is more than 10 mm . It can be present due to causes like
1. Some anomaly in the central nervous system of the fetus
,2. Chromosomal anomaly in fetus, especially Down syndrome
3. Isolated dilated ventricle, with no effect on fetus.
The size you have mentioned seems it is in cms rather than in mms.
I would suggest you to consult a fetal medicine specialist so that a detailed anomaly ultrasound can be done and amniocentesis, if required can be done. Further management has to be done accordingly.
