Fairly large broad based posterior disc extrusion is seen at L4-5 level deforming the thecal sac, causing effacement of the anterior epidural fat and compression of the bilateral inferiorly traversing extrathecal L5 nerve roots (R>L). what it means??
According to report, you are suffering from degenerative disc disease of lumbar spine. Degenerative changes occurs in spine due to aging and development of weakness in annulus fibrosis.
1.At L4-5 level, there is large broad based posterior disc herniation which is deforming and indenting thecal sac.Herniated disc is also causing bilateral compression of L5 exiting nerve roots .Compression of nerve roots is more in right side.
Majority of the cases of degenerative spine disease are benefited by physiotherapy,so physiotherapy should be tried first. Surgery should be the last option.
Treatment can be planned after consultation with neurologist.
