What Does My Ultrasound Report Suggest?

I had an ultrasound done and would like to know what the following means: The uterus demonstrates a 1.4 cm endometrium containing multiple solid and cystic spaces identified within the endometrial cavity. There is a 1.8 cm pendunculated fibroid seen in the fundus. There is a 3 cm right ovarian cyst. There is no free fluid in the cul-de-sac.

Hi,

Your sonogram report says that the endometrium is thicker than normal with perhaps enhanced glandular formation, proliferative activity as it is called, a fibroid which is at the top of the uterus in location, and a cyst in the ovary which needs active management going by the size. The architecture of the cyst is not specified. The nature of the fibroid, perhaps sub-serosal, going by the presence of the peduncle, is not specified. Further management should be planned with clinical correlation and your age.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shanti Vennam, OBGYN
