Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, Age: 24 Male Very Healthy No medical hx No meds My problem is that now over 48 hours ago, I noticed the right side of my pubic area was numb. If you draw a line directly down the center of my body, the numbness starts on the ride side only. It s very strange. There s no numbness in the penis or testicles, only the pubic area. I first noticed it after I finished competing in a Olympic Triathlon in the early morning just over 48 hours ago. I am a fit person and I have competed in many races before. I am aware that when cycling ,perineial nerves can be compressed and cause some damage whether permanent or temporary to the groin. I have had this before but it usually only makes my testicle or penis numb for a very short period of time. The ride was only 40km so it was nothing that I m not used to. Some other possibly relevant history is that within the last month I have developed a rapid acute onset of vericocele. I would say it s grade 3 as its very noticeable when standing. I have a GP appointment tomorrow on that. Hoping I could get more insight on the numbness on here though. Thanks
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Numbness is due to compression or pudendal nerve. it may be due to neuropathy also seen in diabetes, cauda equina syndrome. Varicocele probably won't cause numbness ,you may take tablet Pregabalin once daily for five days. use b complex tablets. If symptoms not improved please consult your neurophysician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
