What Does Occasional Black Spots On Stool Indicate?

is occassional black spots on stool blood? I had a colonopscopy about 5 yrs ago with no problems identified. The black spots which occur now and then is something more recent. I have had trouble with rectocele and also have noticed I sometimes have issues with swallowing food (feels like it gets stuck on the way down)

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The possible issue for occasional black spots on stool indicate intestine flora disturbances with possible GI bleed.

I would suggest stool microscopy and repeat colonoscopy for further evaluation and management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
