What Does Pain And Burning Sensation In The Chest Indicate?

I broke 4 ribs in my back 9 weeks ago. Had horrible complication of nerve pain at front of chest that I describe as like burning barbed wire. Pain generally much better, but everyone seems to say they are almost pain free after 6 weeks. I have had 2 X Ray s. I am 69 and fell backwards down from the top of the stairs. Can you give me any reassurance that this length of time is not abnormal many thanks X

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The pain should get better in six weeks.
If your x-rays are normal there is nothing to worry . I think it still continues because you had 4 ribs broken so trauma is bigger.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
