What Does Pain Between The Shoulder Blades Indicate?

I started to have pain yesterday at the upper back between my shoulder blades, then by evening I was having trouble swallowing and it felt like something was stuck. Today the pain is there all the time and it hurts in my back when I swallow, more during eating.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

What it looks that you probably have some problem in your food pipe. It this has occurred suddenly, then it does not look too serious but there looks to be some damage to your food pipe, like inflammation called esophegitis or if you have hurt it with some hard food. I would like to know if this had been really for one day? When pain is associated with difficulty in swallowing, this always needs to be taken more seriously. My personal opinion would be that you take some antacids and urgently see your gastroenterologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
