What Does Pain Between The Shoulder Blades Indicate?

I am a 54 year old non smoking female who recently visited my doctor for pain between my shoulder blades. I was given a chest xray, blood work and EKG in the office at my visit. All came back normal but I continue to experience discomfort in the center of my upper back. I have not been doing anything recently that may have caused strain to this area. Just wondering what it could be. Thanks
