In the last week I have woken up with pain in lower butt area which becomes noticeable when I stand. After moving around a while the pain lessens but is still their, especially when I move from sitting to standing. No pain while lying down. In the last day I ve had to make numerous small bowel movements. No other symptoms. No high temperature. No red in urine.

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
hi sir/mam,pain in buttocks occurs in the following conditions:
1)sciatica due to lumbar intervertebral disc disease.
2)pyriformis syndrome
3)ischial tuberosity bursitis.
any how,for accurate diagnosis,a thorough physical examination is essential.treatment for sciatica includes rest, analgesics for pain relief like NSAIDs(ibuprofen, aceclofenac),avoidance of abnormal postures, avoid lifting heavy weight.physiotherapy would help a lot.for pyriformis syndrome, treatment is same as above along with stretching excercises which are the main stay.ischial bursitis is also relieved by analgesics and anti inflammatory agents.none of the above condition is life threatening.you can have a trial of analgesics for 1 week and if no response, othopedician can consulted.hope my answer clears all your doubts.any further questions, please let me know as it is my pleasure to help you .wish you and your family a very happ, healthy and peaceful new year ahead.thank you.take care.bye.
