Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having elbow pain for most of the past 5 months. It was originally diagnosed as tennis elbow and I went to physical therapy for a couple of weeks. It improved somewhat but did not completely go away. About a month later I had a cortisone shot that resulted in marked improvement; however, after 2-3 weeks the pain returned. It has done nothing since except get worse. It is difficult to pick up anything with my right hand and/or use it too much for anything. Could it still be the tennis elbow or are there other possibilities?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Elbow pain is probably due to overuse. Some advice that I can give to you are: -Ice the elbow to reduce pain and swelling. -Use an elbow strap to protect the injured tendon from further strain. -Take anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin, to help with pain and swelling.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
