What Does Pain In The Heels Indicate?

I have shooting pain from my heel up through the front of my foot. All on bottom. Hurts more when I m resting. I am an aggressive fitness instructor, but I have not done anything different than I usually do. No falls, no different shoes. What are your thoughts?

Thanks for contacting with your health concern.

1. without being able to directly examine you, going by your history I'm of the following opinion:

i. pain in the heel is most often caused by plantar fasciitis, and because you are an aggressive fitness instructor one has to exclude causes like a stress fracture, arthritis, nerve irritation, or tendonitis.

PS. If by adopting
- hot water fomentation, rest with minimal movements
- taking an analgesic, anti-inflammatory enzymes, low dose steroid with antacid, and muscle relaxant, the pain goes away continue with the same, however, if the pain is not relieved to ask for X-ray heel- lateral and Consult an Orthopedic Surgeon.

2. Treatment of foot pain will depend on the cause of the pain and may involve medication, strengthening, stretching, and possibly the use of physical therapy.
