What Does Pain In The Hips Indicate?

For 7-8 months I have what seems to be hip pain 3 or 4 times a week. It gets to the point were I have to stop walking. It s not constant and usually subsides in 5 or 10 minutes. I m 60 years old. It starts with a sharp pain and gradually reduces to a dull ache. My job requires me to be constantly on my feet and moving around. Thanks for any advice you may have. Should I see a doctor or maybe a chiropractor?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You have either muscle pull (due to calcium deficiency or lumber spondylosis) or sciatica due to pyriformis muscle.

Treatment would be pain medicines, calcium supplementation, physiotherapy or surgery depending on cause found after investigations. Please consult a orthopedic specialist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
