What Does Pain In The Hips On The Left Side Indicate?

I have a pain in my left hip that I got after lifting heavy objects. It is most painful when laying flat in bed. I have had trouble in the past with bursitis but this is a different type if pain. At times it aches and other times it feels more like a burning pain. Is it some kind of tendinitis? YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

I am glad we connected.

Pain in the left hip is often seen with muscle strain or muscle injury. This can cause release of some of the toxins that can cause swelling.

Here are a few things you can try -
Icing the area for 15 mins
Using a compression sleeve
Using a painkiller gel
Taking OTC painkillers
Sleeping well
Raising the legs
Gentle massage
Warm gel pack over the hip.

I hope this helps you! It would be a good idea to get checked out in case the pain persists.

All the best.
