What Does Pain In The Left Heel Indicate?

My 11 year- old son who plays soccer has been complaining the last 3 weeks about his left heel hurting. I noticed that after practices and games he seems to be hobbling. The only issue is with his left heel, no similar problem with the right foot. I wouldn t think the problem is the shoe size since not both feet are hurting. Any thoughts on what might be causing the pain in his left heel? Thanks.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is nothing but minor contusion of heel/calcaneus. It’s quite common after playing football and basket ball. No need to worry. You can take analgesics like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac for pain. Avoid weight bearing for three days. If pain persist, consult an orthopedic for further evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query.
