What Does Pain In The Upper Abdomen Indicate?

Hi I have had a bad flue/cold for last 3 weeks.. coughing got so bad I went to doctor and he said chest was clear but put me on two types of antibiotics. after this about 5 days later I started getting pain in my lower chest / top of my abdomen.. I went back to doctor and he said it was my stomach upset by the antibiotics and he put me on some tablets for the stomach.. that pain has progressed to being a lot worse.. and its now in the right side of my chest and the pain goes all the way through to my back.. it is very very painful to cough or blow my nose and sometimes theres a painful popping feeling in that right side chest area.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Did you rule out any gall bladder anomalies as they can cause right sided pain and the abdominal pain radiates to the shoulder many often. I would advise you to get a ultrasonography of the abdomen done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
