Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a pain in the top, more to the side of my foot under my ankle. It feels like it s in the muscle kind of deep, not in the skin. It sort of feels like strained it but I m not sure, I ve never had an injury like this before. I feel it constantly but it s not extremely painful until i walk on it or bend my foot at the ankle. It hurts to touch it and it s not getting any better and it been 4 days now.
If there is no history of severe trauma, then it is possible that the symptoms are related to injury to the soft tissue only.
Treatment of soft tissue injuries include (P.R.I.C.E.-M):
1. Protection from further injury 2. Rest- you need to reduce movement for a few days to allow for healing to occur 3. Ice therapy- the area can be iced 2 to 3 times a day for 10 to 15 minutes 4. Compression 5. Elevation if swollen 6. Medication- that is Ibuprofen, Naproxen or Cataflam, etcetera.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
