What Does Pain Under The Shoulder Blades Indicate?

I have been having severe to moderate pain underneath the shoulder blades. It gets really bad for a couple of minute and then not as bad for a little while it feels like there is something stabbing me when it is bad and then like squeezing feeling when it calms down. my mother and sister have both had their gallbladders out and i am worried i might be having the same prob. Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

According to mention history you are having pain underneath the shoulder blade and so this pain could not be because of gallbladder symptoms. It can be muscle strain pain or pain because of underlying joint inflammation and for that physical examination and local part x-ray can be done. If it is pain because of muscular strain than non steroidal anti inflammatory drug can be prescribed for 5 days. According to mention history I don't think you have to worry about gallbladder symptoms. In pain the site is right sided abdominal pain.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
